Pour vous expliquer un peu le principe, il s’agit d’un mini-format mensuel que je poste entre deux lettres et dans lequel je répertorie ce que j’ai lu, vu, écouté, créé et découvert durant les semaines passées. C’était initialement une mini-section incluse à ma lettre habituelle, mais j’ai finalement trouvé que c’était plus chouette de séparer les deux pour avoir un espace uniquement dédié à mes découvertes dans lequel on puisse y retrouver toujours les mêmes catégories dans lesquelles venir piocher.

Énorme coup de coeur, c’est le dernier livre publié de l’autrice et j’ai profité de le trouver en rabais sur ma Kobo pour vite l’ajouter à mes lectures. J’avais entendu parler en bien des romans de l’autrice à plusieurs reprises, notamment du côté de chez Solveig et puisque je sais que je peux toujours lui faire confiance (et pour la propriétaire d’une librairie, c’est un bon point !) je me doutais qu’il allait me plaire et effectivement. Dans Hello Beautiful on parle de famille (une thématique que j’adore), de liens un peu brisés, d’amour aussi, des difficultés d’évoluer et de changer. C’est un drame familial se déroulant autour de 4 soeurs de Chicaco — s’attribuant elles-mêmes au fil de l’histoire des ressemblances aux 4 filles du Dr March — et de leurs liens qui malgré elles se rompent.

Après avoir fini le livre précédent, je suis allée fouiller dans ses précédents romans pour découvrir que son premier avait été adapté en série sur AppleTV+ ! Puisqu’elles sont toujours super, j’ai filé me procurer le livre et si ce n’est pas un coup de coeur monstrueux, j’ai tout de même passé un très bon moment en le lisant.
On y suit Edward, orphelin et seul rescapé de 12 ans après avoir perdu ses deux parents et son frère dans le crash d’un avion ayant fait 183 victimes et recueilli chez son oncle et sa tante. Le livre alterne entre le présent et les vies de plusieurs des victimes au moment du vol et suit au fil des années l’évolution d’Edward qui grandit et vit avec sa tante et son mari et leur regret de ne jamais avoir réussi à avoir un enfant, remplaçant malgré eux ce désir par l’existence d’Edward au sein de leur foyer.

Je l’ai trouvé dans une boîte à livres il y a quelques mois et j’étais ravie : je savais que je n’allais pas particulièrement aimer (spoiler, c’était bien le cas) et c’est toujours très agréable de tomber sur un livre gratuit (même si c’est encore plus agréable quand c’est un livre qu’on a hyper envie de lire). Sans trop de surprise je l’ai trouvé assez terrible malheureusement, j’ai soufflé, levé les yeux au ciel et rushé pour m’en débarrasser et si je comprends qu’il ait pu plaire et pour quelles raisons, je l’ai trouvé (selon mes propres critères) creux, terriblement sexiste (sans parler d’une bonne pointe de grossophobie et de psychophobie par dessus, ça vieillit mal hein) et cette fin, mon dieu cette fin. C’est donc un non pour moi, heureusement c’était une lecture courte et ça, c’est toujours très appréciable (était-ce vraiment nécessaire ceci dit de le lire ? À voir entre moi et moi-même, peut-être qu’éviter de lire des livres dont je sais qu’ils ne vont pas me plaire serait une bonne idée…).
Pas grand chose à vrai dire ! J’ai une grosse chute d’inspiration/d’envie de créer depuis quelques mois et ça me rend triste autant que ça m’embête. Le mois prochain on sera en octobre (pas de surprise là dessus, après septembre vient octobre) et chaque année se déroule l’Inktober (et toutes ses déclinaisons), un challenge d’illustration où pendant 31 jours les personnes qui souhaitent y participer se frottent à une liste de thèmes quotidien et postent des illustrations (selon la technique de notre choix, ça peut être avec des techniques traditionnelles comme de l’encre, de la gouache, du crayon… comme des techniques numériques, tout est accepté !). Je m’étais dit l’an dernier que j’avais très envie d’écrire un point à ce sujet et… j’ai complètement oublié !
Depuis, j’ai un peu oublié mon ressenti mais je me souviens vaguement de ce que je m’étais dit : d’habitude j’aime bien y participer, l’an dernier ça n’avait été que (attention je vais exagérer) souffrance. Il tombait très mal : je travaillais sur un projet pour un client qui était particulièrement intense tout en nous occupant à côté de la rénovation des planchers de notre appartement (pour toute personne ayant déjà poncé soi-même intégralement un sol pour le refaire, vous verrez assez facilement en quoi associer ça à n’importe quel autre projet fait partie de la liste des très très mauvaises idées pour ne pas avoir envie de pleurer le front plein de sueur et de poussière de bois), le tout en ayant envie de profiter au mieux de cette merveilleuse saison qu’est l’automne. Bref un cocktail assez nul qui m’avait fait trouver la période assez désagréable, j’en étais ressortie vidée et j’ai l’impression que ça n’a aidé en rien ma chute d’inspiration qui en a découlé jusqu’à maintenant.
Que faire donc ? J’ai l’impression que c’est comme la douleur et à quel point on en oublie rapidement la sensation. On est le 8 septembre à l’heure où j’écris cette Carte postale et je me dis que j’aimerais bien y participer encore alors même que je m’étais dit « plus jamais ». Mais je crois qu’il va falloir organiser une petite réunion entre moi et moi-même pour trouver une manière de le rendre plus agréable et moins pesant à vivre, ou peut-être juste de m’inciter à ne pas du tout le faire si ça ressemble plus à une pression de ne pas manquer quelque chose plutôt qu’une envie sincère d’y participer. Quand quelque chose est fait par crainte du FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) ce n’est généralement jamais un très bon début. C’est super de dessiner tous les jours, ça l’est moins quand c’est une corvée. Et l’an dernier honnêtement, ça y ressemblait pas mal et ça c’est nul.

Dix pour cent sur France TV
Mon grand classique, regarder des séries des années après qu’elles soient sorties ! Je l’avais commencée sans la poursuivre il y a quelques temps et je m’y suis enfin remise. Sortie et diffusée sur France 2 il y a 10 ans (la série date de 2015 !), elle se déroule dans une agence artistique et suit le quotidien de plusieurs agents d’acteurs. Le casting est super, à l’époque je n’étais pas très fan de Camille Cottin principalement parce que je n’aimais pas son personnage dans sa mini-série Connasse et je l’ai un peu plus redécouverte ces dernières années et j’ai aimé découvrir chacun des personnages présents à travers les saisons de la série. Il y a une vraie qualité de séries en France et je suis ravie de redécouvrir tardivement celle-ci, le rythme est chouette, j’aime beaucoup le fait qu’on suive plus ou moins un acteur dans chaque épisode (je trouve ça très cool d’y suivre de vrais acteurs et non pas des personnages inventés !).
La série est disponible sur France TV en replay (avec un VPN si vous ne vivez pas en France ça se fait toujours très bien) (en fait non France TV a depuis flaggé les utilisateurs de VPN et je trouve ça très pénible parce qu’il semblerait que je ne puisse plus accéder au site et il me reste une saison et demie à voir…) !

É-VI-DE-MMENT. C’était un peu du hate-watch cette année plus que les années précédentes et j’adore ce sentiment général : les personnages sont insupportables, ce triangle amoureux à la limite du malaise (entre deux frères et une fille ? Vraiment ?) devient ridicule… et pourtant on adore regarder chaque mercredi pour rager encore un peu plus à la fin et finalement, l’été c’est ça : regarder ensemble une série pas dingue mais qui fait quand même passer un bon moment pour le plaisir de débriefer chaque épisode à chaque fois.
Le dernier épisode sort ce mercredi et j’ai trouvé ça rigolo de suivre chaque semaine l’évolution et la fin d’une série, je trouve ça chouette en même temps ce retour du format de sortie hebdomadaire pour regarder quelque chose de manière plus lente (qui on s’en doute est surtout pour forcer les gens à s’abonner aux plateformes pour une longue durée et non s’abonner pour un seul mois et tout bingewatcher).

J’ai récemment fait le grand move de quitter Spotify pour essayer d’autres services de streaming. Pour l’instant mon essai en cours est chez Apple Music (vraiment pas dingue, je déteste) et j’ignore encore si je vais en essayer un autre, tant et si bien que je trouve mon expérience tellement mauvaise que j’écoute très peu de musique alors même qu’en temps normal mes haut-parleurs fonctionnent sans interruption du matin jusqu’au soir. La solution serait-elle de me lever toutes les 30 minutes pour aller changer la face d’un vinyle plutôt que d’essayer de trouver un service parfait de remplacement ? Je n’arrive en tout cas pas à trouver une solution idéale et je dois même dire, et je trouve ça fou, que ça me rend même un peu triste de m’être auto-retirée un service qui me permettait de pouvoir facilement écouter de la musique sans arrêt, mes journées sont très silencieuses depuis et je trouve ça fou, je ne m’attendais pas du tout à ça (j’ai un peu essayé Deezer à côté et je ne suis vraiment pas fan non plus…). Cet été j’ai découvert le podcast fraichement créé de Patrick Baud intitulé Continue tu m’intéresses. Le principe, une discussion à travers plusieurs questions autour de ce qui a récemment vraiment intéressé la personne invitée à travers des épisodes d’environ 1h20 à chaque fois. Vrai coup de coeur pour chacun des épisodes, les conversations sont passionnantes, c’est toujours très agréable d’écouter Patrick Baud qui a cette qualité de faire de la place et de réellement écouter les personnes qu’il interroge. Je n’ai pas un épisode en particulier à vous recommander tant ils sont tous intéressants mais parmi ceux sortis dont j’aime particulièrement les personnes il y a eu Manon Bril, Clément Viktorovitch, Viviane Lalande (autrice de la chaine Scilabus) et Adrien Ménielle.
Voilà pour clôturer le retour des cartes postales ! J’aime bien ce format parce que je le trouve parfait pour recueillir et s’échanger toutes nos recommandations alors si vous avez des livres/albums/podcasts/films/séries à partager n’hésitez surtout pas ! Je suis surtout à la recherche de nouvelles recommandations lectures en ce moment alors si vous avez eu un coup de coeur dernièrement je suis toute ouïe.
Mille mercis pour vos lectures du mois dernier, je trouve ça très amusant de revenir sur mon blog et je n’aurais jamais parié en début d’année que ce serait le cas.
